Horse riding
Riding through the Forest is very popular, for both experienced riders or beginners. The Burley Manor Riding School, Tel: 01425 403489 or Bagnum Farm Stables, Tel: 01425 476263, makes riding a pleasure for beginners, children and adults and also for more experienced rider.

Walking
Ringwood is well placed on the Avon Valley Footpath. Ideal for an overnight stop since it is 10 miles from Christchurch and 24 miles from Salisbury. In addition to the long distance walks, there are many other opportunities for exploring the delights of the surrounding New Forest and farmland -from a gentle stroll through the Forest or on the Town Trail to a full days walking expedition, all based around Ringwood. Details of walks can be obtained from the Visitors' Information Centre, in the Furlong.

Eating out
Cafes and local restaurants provide a choice of English and Foreign cuisine. You will find good pub food, wine bars, bistro's, sandwich bars and coffee shops in the town.
Water sports
The numerous man made lakes provide opportunities for Sailing, Water Skiing or a fun family outing. The New Forest Water Park at Hucklesbrook Lakes welcomes visitors for water-skiing aquarides and jet-skiing. The park is situated in 55 acres of beautiful countryside off the A338 north of Ringwood and offers 2 lakes for watersports and fishing. A fun day out for all the family.

Opportunities for sailing are to be found on Spinnaker Lake off Ivy Lane to the east of the A338. The Spinnaker Sailing Club welcomes visiting dinghy sailors that are members of an RYA affiliated club who may use the facilities by contacting 01425 476509.

Fishing
Ringwood is a premier centre for fishing. With exceptional game or course fishing, a large variety of fish species can be found in both the River Avon and in well stocked local lakes. Day fishing tickets are available in season. Fishing permits and details of where to fish can be obtained from Avon Angling Centre Tel: 01425 461038 and Ringwood Tackle 01425 475155, both situated in West Street, Ringwood.
Cycling
Quiet lanes, forest roads and travel tracks make the New Forest the ideal place for sightseeing at a more leisurely pace. So why not start in Ringwood where the Avon Valley gives gentle slopes and easy access to the forest. Cycling leaflets are produced by the New Forest District Council and the Forestry Commission and are available from the Visitors' Information Centre.
